#NigeriaDecides :INEC blasts Rivers Gov. Amaechi(Read)

RIVERS STATE INEC PRESS RELEASE ~ ISRAEL OJOKO
Port Harcourt - The Independent National Electoral Commission has blasted the governor of Rivers State Chibuike Amaechi for refusing to participate in Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Amaechi refused to be accredited, demanding to see result sheets before his accreditation, and as a result did not cast his vote.
Protest erupted in Port Harcourt on Saturday, leaving three dead, and a fiercer one on Sunday, as thousand took to the street despite heavy rain to reject election, with the governor calling for cancellation of election in the state.
In a press release by the state INEC resident commissioner, Dame Gesila Khan on Sunday, the commission insisted that election in Rivers State is valid, as results are being collated.
“At the stage the governor of Rivers State RT. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi complained of not sighting election result sheets, voting has not commenced, that was merely accreditation stage which has nothing to do with result sheets.
“Please note that the governor of Rivers state went to the poll as a voter, not as a governor.
“INEC wishes to inform the general public that the law does not allow everyone to be shown the result sheets.”
INEC is expected to announce the winner of the presidential election in less than 48 hours.
